12 marketing strategies and you might not know this, - Booklinker March 2026 Broadcast #1

Hello,

I received so many responses from the Collections Challenge last month, I decided to do another one.

This time we're going to dive into data. Wait—don’t leave yet. I promise I'm not going to get into anything too intense that involves lots of numbers, graphs, x-axis, vectors, gradients and any other fancy math term you can think of. I'm a writer, not a data scientist.

You may not know this, but Booklinker provides you with some basic data for each link that allows you to see the number of clicks, what country they came from and from what retailer.

The numbers themselves aren't the interesting part. What matters is what they can tell you.

To find the numbers, go to your Booklinker dashboard.
Click on "See Report" next to the number of clicks.

Here is where you will find your data:

Here are a few simple ways to use this information

• See if readers are actually clicking your links
If you share a Booklinker link in a newsletter or social post, the click count tells you whether readers are curious enough to check out the book.

• Discover where your readers are located
The country data can reveal where your audience is growing. You might think most of your readers are in the U.S., but you could start seeing clicks from the U.K., Canada, Australia, or somewhere unexpected. If you notice clicks coming from a specific country, you might try targeting that market with promotions, ads, or retailer links tailored to readers there.

• Track which places send readers to your book
You can create different Booklinker links for different places you share them.

For example:

Newsletter link
mybook.to/MyBookNL

TikTok link
mybook.to/MyBookTT

Now when you look at the clicks, you can see which platform is actually sending readers to your book page.

None of this requires spreadsheets or complicated analysis. It’s simply a way to get small clues about what’s catching readers’ attention and where they’re discovering your books.

This month's challenge:
Pick a Booklinker link that has clicks. Share with me the top 2 countries you received clicks.

Happy Marketing!

In the previous Broadcast I asked you to share what you are doing to set yourself up for success. I loved Kathleen's story and wanted to share. She hopes it will help and inspire someone else.

Kathleen's Story

Every year I do a business plan and for the last few years, I’d get to week 2 in January and feel li

ke I’d failed already.
Stupid, huh?

This year I didn’t do one. I still have a bunch of books to write but only 2 before August and one of those is done and the other one is more than halfway. I’ve given myself the first half of this year to write.

So I still have a plan, I still have things I do on the regular like newsletters but there’s no pressure. And weirdly I’m getting more stuff done. I’m trying different promos and not necessarily paid ones, ones I just push on my own socials to see what’s working and am amazed at the results.

When I first started this gig, I’d celebrate every release. I’d go to lunch, one year I purchased a gold bracelet but for the past few (many) years I’ve stopped doing that because I felt like a failure. Even though I’m not.

So this year I’m celebrating all my releases. And it might only be with my favourite chocolate or taking time out to go for a walk but I’m going to do something.

🌟 Why Your Book Isn't Selling: Metadata

If your book is not selling, the problem may be your metadata. For many authors, the word metadata sounds like static in their ears. You know what data is, so metadata must be the same thing, right?

No. Metadata is critical to book sales.

Thomas Umstattd Jr. asked Dave Chesson, creator of Kindlepreneur.com, Publisher Rocket, Atticus, and other tools for authors, to explain why.

There is one area of cleaning most of us forget about and no it's not washing your windows. I'm talking about a spring cleaning for your books. One book link, Every store Booklinker.com 3/22/2026 Hello, "Just Do it." Nike is definitely on to something here. It's short and to the point. There really is no way to misunderstand the statement. It's straightforward and requires action. But notice one thing. The word "all" is no where to be found. It is not "Just Do It All." By adding that one small word, the phrase becomes instantly overwhelming. I've seen many authors (including myself) dive head first into a "Just Do It All" kind of...
