Hello,

It's springtime in the U.S. which means one thing...spring cleaning!

There is one area of cleaning most of us forget about and no it's not washing your windows. I'm talking about a spring cleaning for your books. There are elements of our author business that happen behind the scenes that need some occasional attention.

Think of it like cleaning out the pantry or a closet. There are probably things in there you don't need anymore or maybe they need to be replaced (like that can of garbanzo beans that expired 2 years ago).

Here's a list to get you going. And trust me, you will feel great when it's done. Then you won't have to worry about it until I bug you about it next year.

(Download this pdf if you want to print off the list Book Spring Cleaning List for Authors.pdf)

Go through this list and check things off as you go:

Booklinker links
Click a few of your links and make sure they’re going to the correct book and correct retailers. If your book is now available in a new store, refresh your Booklinker links so readers have more options.

Booklinker Collection pages
Log into your Booklinker account and look are your current Collection pages. Do you have a new book you can add to a current collection? Are there new collection pages you can create to help your current marketing efforts.

Book descriptions
Read them with fresh eyes. Is there a hook? Is the genre and tone clear? Are they visually appealing with a good balance of white space and text? If you’ve improved as a writer (and you have), your descriptions probably need a refresh too.

Author bio
Update anything outdated: number of books, genres, awards, or even your tone. This should reflect the author you are today, not when you first started. And don't forget to update your profile pic as well.

Website links
Go page by page on your website and click everything: book links, newsletter signup, buttons. If something doesn’t work, fix it now (before a reader finds it first).

Reader magnet
Download it and review it like a reader would. Does it still match your current books and genre? Is it the best “first impression” of your writing? Is it the most current file with the most recent back matter?

Front and Back Matter
Check the information you have in the front and back of your books. Do you need to add additional books you've published? Are your links/QR codes current (this is a good place to add Booklinker links)? Is your author bio current?

Retailer pages (Amazon, Apple, etc.)
Look at your book pages like a shopper. Are your categories accurate? Is your series info complete? Do you have an author central page on Amazon?

Newsletter Automation
Click through your welcome sequence and any automated emails. Make sure links work and you’re not pointing readers to outdated books or old promos.

Social profiles (link in bio)
Check your main link in your bio. Does it still take readers where you want them to go right now (latest release, reader magnet, series starter)? Do you need to update your profile pic?

Keywords & Categories
Dig into the metadata and check the keywords, categories and BISAC categories to make sure they are the best choices.

What is one thing you are going to do for your author spring cleaning? Reply and let me know.

Happy Marketing!

One book link, Every store Booklinker.com 3/22/2026 Hello, "Just Do it." Nike is definitely on to something here. It's short and to the point. There really is no way to misunderstand the statement. It's straightforward and requires action. But notice one thing. The word "all" is no where to be found. It is not "Just Do It All." By adding that one small word, the phrase becomes instantly overwhelming. I've seen many authors (including myself) dive head first into a "Just Do It All" kind of...

One book link, Every store Booklinker.com 3/3/2026 Hello, I received so many responses from the Collections Challenge last month, I decided to do another one. This time we're going to dive into data. Wait—don’t leave yet. I promise I'm not going to get into anything too intense that involves lots of numbers, graphs, x-axis, vectors, gradients and any other fancy math term you can think of. I'm a writer, not a data scientist. You may not know this, but Booklinker provides you with some basic...
