12/17/2025 There is a misconception that creativity only happens when we’re writing our books. But, believe it or not, creativity also happens when we are marketing. The American Psychological Association defines creativity as the ability to produce or develop original work, theories, techniques, or thoughts. When we think about ways to get our books into the hands of readers, we are creating techniques and theories on how we can accomplish this. Some successful authors share their marketing advice with an attitude of, “this is the way you have to market your book.” But the truth is, that’s what worked for them. Science Fiction author Andy Weir who wrote The Martian and Project Hail Mary used Wattpad; romance author Colleen Story used social media; and poet Rupi Kaur used Instagram to share her poems. They all became successful by creating their own marketing paths. There are many nuances to your books, personality, target audience, time, budget… and it is because of these things, creativity plays a big role in marketing your books. Yes, there are specific strategies around successful marketing. For instance, I am a huge proponent of newsletters as a way to connect to your readers. This is a strategy that many authors can use, but writing the content and the design of it takes creativity. Chances are you became an author because you enjoy creating new fictional worlds or you like being creative with how you share information for nonfiction. It’s that creativity that drives you. I challenge you to view your marketing with that same drive and creativity. With this slight shift in perspective, you may even find yourself looking forward to your marketing. Take the poll below and let me know where you are most creative with your marketing. Happy Marketing! Kerrie Kerrie Your TurnRemember your choice. In the next Broadcast. I'm going to share something fun related to this. Save the Dates:

One book link, Every store Booklinker.com 4/7/2026 Hello, It's springtime in the U.S. which means one thing...spring cleaning! There is one area of cleaning most of us forget about and no it's not washing your windows. I'm talking about a spring cleaning for your books. There are elements of our author business that happen behind the scenes that need some occasional attention. Think of it like cleaning out the pantry or a closet. There are probably things in there you don't need anymore or...
One book link, Every store Booklinker.com 3/22/2026 Hello, "Just Do it." Nike is definitely on to something here. It's short and to the point. There really is no way to misunderstand the statement. It's straightforward and requires action. But notice one thing. The word "all" is no where to be found. It is not "Just Do It All." By adding that one small word, the phrase becomes instantly overwhelming. I've seen many authors (including myself) dive head first into a "Just Do It All" kind of...
