Hello authors,

Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days are October 6–7. Are you doing anything to take advantage of them?

You don't have to create a huge promotion or spend a lot of money. But with more people shopping on Amazon and looking for deals, this can be a good opportunity to put a little extra attention on your books.

And you still have time to put something together.

Here are a few ideas:

Discount a book. Consider lowering the price of the first book in a series to encourage new readers to give it a try. If they enjoy it, you have the potential for read-through to the rest of the series.

Promote a boxed set or omnibus. Shoppers are already looking for value, so this can be a great time to highlight a bundle that gives readers multiple books for one price.

Schedule a newsletter promotion. If you plan to discount a book, look at paid newsletter opportunities now. Don't wait until October 5 to see what's available.

Coordinate with other authors. Set up a newsletter swap or group promotion with authors who write for a similar audience. You can help each other reach more readers during the event.

Use your own newsletter. Let your readers know about your deal and give them a reason to buy now. If you're promoting several books or series, you could also create a Booklinker Collection Page and send readers to one place where they can see all of them.

You don't have to do all of these. Pick one or two that make sense for your books, your budget and the time you have available.

The important thing is to decide now, so you're ready when October 6 rolls around.

What is one thing you plan to do for Prime Big Deal Days? Let me know.

Happy Marketing!
~Kerrie

Kickstarter Campaign

In the previous Booklinker Broadcast I talked about Kickstarter and how you don't have to ask for thousands of dollars to have a successful campaign. Here is the campaign my coauthor and I are currently running. You can see our goal, rewards and basic setup. It isn't anything too complicated and it is well on its way to being a successful campaign.

Take a look at our current campaign here.

Calling All Mystery, Thriller, Horror & Paranormal Romance Authors: 99¢ Collections Promo

This is a free group promotion for authors. We're building two Booklinker Collections, one page for each genre, featuring 99¢ ebooks. Every participating author shares their Collection link with their readers, so each book reaches readers from all the other authors in that Collection too. The promo runs October 4–21, over Prime Big Deal Days. Our September Sci-Fi & Fantasy Collection brought in more than 600 reader visits and more than 770 clicks through to the featured books, from the US, UK, Canada, Australia and beyond.

The two Collections:

  • Mystery, Thriller & Horror
  • Witchy & Paranormal Romance

The guidelines:

  • Your ebook must be priced at 99¢ on Amazon for the full promo, October 4–21.
  • You agree to share the Collection link with your readers at least once during the promo.
  • If you took part in last month's Sci-Fi & Fantasy promo, please sit this one out so other authors get a turn.

To submit, reply to this email with:

  1. Your name (or pen name)
  2. The email address where you'd like to receive the promo link and graphic
  3. Your book's Amazon link
  4. Which Collection it fits: Mystery, Thriller & Horror, or Witchy & Paranormal Romance

Deadline: Submissions close Monday, September 28, at 5:00 p.m. EDT. We can't accept books after that.

🌟 What I’d Do Differently If I Started KDP Today

When Dale L. Roberts started with Amazon KDP, he thought it would be easy. He figured he could publish some books for free and start making money. He even left his cushy day job after his first royalty check came in at a little over twenty bucks. A few months later, things started to spiral out of control. Since then, Dale has made plenty of mistakes and learned some painful lessons about what it takes to make KDP work. Whether you're brand new to KDP or have already published a few books, he's sharing ten things he wishes he'd known before he started.

🌟 Launch Day Is Not Judgment Day

After more than twenty years as a published author, Susanne Dunlap entered a whole new world when she began self-publishing Regency romance. 🌟 3 Simple Steps to Maximize Free Book Downloads

Offering your book for free is a great way to hook readers into a series, grow your mailing list, and reach readers who wouldn’t take a chance on you at full price. But a free price tag doesn’t do much on its own; you still have to get the book in front of readers. There are so many ways to promote books, but if you’re making a book permafree or scheduling a limited-time free discount, here are three easy places to start.

One book link, Every store Booklinker.com 09/12/2026 Hello authors, Currently I’m getting ready to launch my 6th Kickstarter campaign with my coauthor. For the past couple of years, we have been using Kickstarter as an early marketing strategy for a new book or series. When I’ve talked with other authors about Kickstarter, most think you would only use it if you are trying to raise thousands of dollars. The truth is you don’t. Our campaigns have ranged from $100 to $1,000. Our goals with...

Work Together

One book link, Every store Booklinker.com 08/12/2026 Hello authors, You are not my competition. As many of you know, in addition to my work at Booklinker, I'm also an author. I publish sci-fi and fantasy, which means some of you are trying to reach the exact same readers I am. And that's a good thing. Readers don't finish a book they love and think, "Well, I guess I won't be reading any more." They want another book. And another one after that. There are plenty of readers to go around, and...

Author Magnet on Car Door

One book link, Every store Booklinker.com 08/12/2026 Hello authors, There is always another book marketing strategy to try. A new social media platform, a different type of ad, a promotion everyone is talking about. The list never ends. But before you add something else to your marketing to-do list, I want you to stop and look at what you're already doing. I've talked before about how trying to do everything can lead to burnout. More marketing isn't necessarily better marketing. Sometimes the...
